Why are Bersa thunder 380 plus magazines so expensive?

You should be excited for me. I'm finally on the road to being the proud owner of a Bersa Thunder 380 Plus. Budsgunshop had some available, and I was able to get one on layaway. Maaaan those online layaway plans are the way to go! They allow me to stay within my monthly budget, while securing the things I've grown to enjoy. It was shear luck that I saw them available. Since I've checked the site again they've been marked as sold out. It seems that the Plus version of this popular 380 acp is all sold out over the web. Bersa's thunder 380 8+1 models are always out there. Impactguns.com has plenty available, as well as Budsgunshop.

Here's the problem. I paid $340.00 for the gun from budsgunshop. That included $25.00 for their lifetime warranty, which is separate from the manufacturers. $315 bucks for a 15+1 round 380 acp gun that can be carried concealed. Rarely do I ever have an issue with the price I've paid for a firearm. In this case I carried the same feeling. What ticked me off was the price of their magazines.

There are plenty of other handguns with $40.00 mag prices. I just didn't expect Bersa to be apart of that club. Gunmagwarehouse.com is a trustworthy retailer of all sorts of firearm magazines. They carry brand name as well as off brand magazine models. I completed a search for .380 acp magazines over $40 dollars. There were 3 magazine for 3 different handguns. The Bersa 380 mag selling for $43.49, a CZ 83 12-round magazine at $47.00 and a Walther PPK mag 6-round for $42.00. I could understand the CZ and Walther prices. Walther makes $600 .380 chambered handguns. The CZ 83 was discontinued in 2012, plus it was produced in limited quantity. These are the ingredients to inflated firearm accessory prices, and I'm fine with that.

Bersa guns usually come with only 1 magazine. That means that I'll need to purchase at lease 2 mags for range shooting. If I were to carry concealed, I'd also want two additional mags on my person. I was looking at purchasing 5 magazines for my new Bersa. That's gonna cost me $217.45 before shipping and tax. The problem lies in the fact that the price is the price. There aren't any other companies producing magazines for Bersa. You'll be buying factory magazines at retail price no matter what. I guess that's something that I'll have to get use to, since my Bersa will be on it's way to me soon.
